Dear Descendant, Associate, Veteran, or Friend of the 10th:
The 2007 Hale and Farewell Reunion in Denver was a huge success! The nearly 1000 attendees all had a wonderful time, and the Reunion Committee deserves special thanks for their countless number of hours in preparation for this quite memorable event. A thank-you also goes to our Rocky Mountain Descendants Chapter who also played a major role, both prior and throughout the Reunion weekend. We truly are a 10th family, and we look forward to the next National Reunion in 2010 at Fort Drum!
It is our turn to do the work; it is their turn to sit back and enjoy the Chapter activities. More descendants are assuming leadership and supportive roles within the 10th Association and 10th Foundation. Within the next five years it is anticipated that most leadership positions will be filled by descendants or 10th Light members. But I also ask you to become involved with your Chapter. Some possibilities include helping with chapter mailings, helping to organize and run events, writing and mailing newsletters and honoring our WWII veterans. Contact your Descendant Chapter Director (listed elsewhere on this website) to ask what you can do. Please do not hesitate to contact me or other Board members if you need any information or assistance. We welcome your help and support!
Sempre Italia – Return To Italy 2009. Yes, we are returning to Italy in 2009 and this will be the first Return to Italy trip sponsored by Descendants Inc. We are already in the beginning stages of planning this trip and we anticipate this event being as successful and memorable as previous trips.
Other Descendant Projects may interest you. These are listed elsewhere on this website and on the new WWII 10th Mountain Division Google Group – http://groups.google.com/group/10-mtn-descendants. If you have not visited the Google Group, please do so as it is a forum for information, activities, discussion and updates. Please do not forget to sign in as a “member” (Descendant) and list your WWII soldier’s information in the member “Profile” section. It will be interesting to see the range of 10th Mtn. units that descendants represent.
We are privileged and blessed to have so many 10th veterans still with us, and we need to cherish our time with them. As members of 10th Descendants Inc., we have the opportunity to value and honor all our 10th Mountain soldiers, either in person or memory. It is our charge to preserve their legacy and safeguard it for future generations!
