Metro New York

Metro New York Chapterís first luncheon in 2018 will take place at noon on Saturday, 9 June at Prato Trattoria in Carmel Hamlet, NY., southeast corner of Putnam County just north of the Westchester County line (about 60 miles N/NE of midtown Manhattan). One of this Italian restaurantís owners is Descendant Angela Spaccarelli (the late Isadore De Luccia, 85-G).  She suggested the location and it seems like an appropriate and good fit plus a chance for Descendants and others from northern suburbs and exurbs of N.Y.C. to enjoy a convenient locale.

Sierra Nevada

1.    The Biathlon that we sponsor will be Sunday, January 14, 2018 at the Auburn Ski Hut at Boreal Ridge. This event has been going on for a good 30 years and I've been involved for the last dozen or so years. This is a cross country and shooting event open to all all ages and if you have never seen a Biathlon in action I urge you to come to the event in January. In the past, SN members took an active role in setting up the event but now that has been completely taken over by the Auburn ski club members. I will say a few words at the closing ceremony and then give medals to the winners but basically everything is done by the Auburn ski club.

2.    Riva Ridge/Mt. Belvedere Luncheon is scheduled for Saturday, February 17, 2018 and will be held at the Old Spaghetti Factory in Redwood City. We have been here several times before and it seems to be a nice venue for our gathering. So, if you didn't make the luncheon last month we hope to see you in February!

3.    Our Wine Tasting Picnic will be Saturday, May 19, 2018 and we will again meet at Sebastiani Winery in Sonoma. We had a great turnout last May and everyone had a wonderful time. Again, we hope to see you there!

Val Rios will be giving further information closer to the date of the events but is hoping you will mark them on your 2018 calendar.

There is now a Sierra Nevada Chapter Facebook page so please log on and request to be a member. The other day Val Rios posted pictures of the current chapter veterans but please let Val Rios know if he has missed someone.
